[30 October, 2026] Confluent Ansible 8.4.0 Release Notes

Ansible Playbooks for Confluent Platform (Confluent Ansible) 8.4.0 allows you to deploy Confluent Platform version 8.4.0.

Breaking changes

New features

  • Adds support for the KRaft dynamic controller quorum (KIP-853). You can deploy new clusters with a dynamic quorum, migrate existing static-quorum clusters to a dynamic quorum, and add or replace controllers without rebuilding the cluster. For more information, see Configure KRaft Dynamic Controller Quorum using Ansible Playbooks.

  • Adds support for bring your own Prometheus (BYOP) for Control Center. You can configure Control Center to use your own externally managed Prometheus instance instead of the bundled Prometheus and Alertmanager. For configuration steps, see Bring your own Prometheus (BYOP).

  • Control Center now collects Kafka producer and consumer client metrics by default.

Enhancements

  • Upgrades the Prometheus JMX Exporter agent from 1.0.1 to 1.6.0. Versions 1.1.0 and later are downloaded from GitHub Releases instead of Maven Central.

  • Adds the control_center_next_gen_dependency_alertmanager_web_external_url variable to specify the external URL that the Control Center bundled Alertmanager is hosted behind, so that the View Alert links work properly. For configuration details, see Configure Control Center.
