Get Started with Confluent Cloud on the Azure Marketplace with Commitments

This topic shows you how to get up and running using Confluent Cloud on the Azure Marketplace with usage-based billing commitment. With a commitment, you sign up for a minimum spend amount and get a discount on your committed usage of Confluent Cloud.

Tip

To pay for Confluent Cloud, Confluent Consumption Units (CCUs) are enabled in the cloud Marketplace. Pricing in Marketplace is the same as direct purchase pricing. For more information, see Confluent Cloud Consumption Metrics for Marketplace Deployments.

Prerequisites
  • An Azure Marketplace account. You can use Confluent Cloud and get billed directly through Azure.
  • If you have ever registered for Confluent Cloud, you must use a different email address for registering on Confluent Cloud through the Azure Marketplace.
  • To purchase you must be logged in to the Azure Marketplace and your project must be enabled for purchase by your billing administrator.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Azure Marketplace from https://portal.azure.com/ and click on You have Private offers available. Click here to see.

  2. Click the Apache Kafka® on Confluent Cloud™ for Azure tile.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Click Change plan.

  5. Click Yearly, choose your software plan, and click Select.

    Only 12 month terms are supported.

  6. Review the terms of use and then click on the Subscribe button to complete the purchase.

    It can take several seconds to complete your purchase of Confluent Cloud. You can view the status using the notifications bar in the Azure portal.

  7. You will receive an email asking you to configure your Confluent Cloud subscription. Click Configure now in the email to go to the Azure portal. From the Azure portal, click Configure Account. You will be redirect to the Confluent Cloud site where you can register as the admin user.

  8. Sign up for Confluent Cloud and click Submit.

    You should receive an email from Confluent requesting that you verify your email address. After verification, you are automatically logged in as the administrator of the new Confluent Cloud account.

    Important

    If you have registered for Confluent Cloud previously, you must use a different email address for registering on Confluent Cloud through the Marketplace.

    Tip

    • There can be a delay between when you sign up and when you receive this email. If you do not receive an email, follow these steps.
    • To ensure you receive the confirmation email, you should allow emails from marketplace-no-reply@microsoft.com and noreply@confluent.io.
  9. Click Create cluster to get started.

Troubleshoot

Email already exists

Symptoms
  • When you try to sign up on Confluent Cloud it says your email is already in use.
  • You log in and see old clusters.
  • You are still seeing charges from your previous payment method.
Solution
Re-register using a new email address. If you have ever registered for Confluent Cloud, you must use a new email address for the Marketplace.

No active entitlement

Symptoms
You see a message on the Confluent Cloud UI stating that you do not have an active subscription.
Solution
Create a new subscription through the Azure portal. Confluent will migrate clusters to new organization.

No verification email received

Symptoms
You do not receive a verification email after sign up up for Confluent Cloud in the Azure Marketplace.
Solution
  1. Log in to https://portal.azure.com/ and using the same account that was used to sign up.

  2. Search for Software as a Service (SaaS) and open.

  3. Find your deployed environment and click the link to open.
