# Data Governance for Confluent Platform with Unified Stream Manager USM extends Confluent Cloud governance capabilities, including the Global Data Catalog, Stream Lineage, and centralized policy management, to your registered Confluent Platform clusters. After you [register a cluster](register/overview.md#cloud-usm-register), the following features become available: * **Global Data Catalog:** Discover, browse, and manage all your topics, schemas, and connectors from a single, searchable catalog. For more information, see [Global Data Catalog](../stream-governance/data-portal.md#stream-gov-data-portal). * **Stream Lineage Visualization:** Trace your data from origin to destination with end-to-end lineage graphs. You can visually track data flow across your hybrid deployment and click the nodes in the graph to view associated metadata. For more information, see [Stream Lineage Visualization](../stream-governance/stream-lineage.md#cloud-stream-lineage). * **Centralized Management:** Define and enforce governance policies—such as schemas, validation rules, compatibility modes, and encryption settings—from the Confluent Cloud Console. These policies are automatically propagated to your registered Confluent Platform clusters to ensure consistency across all environments.
