# Confluent Cloud for Government and Self-Managed Components

Deploy self-managed components to provide additional [event streaming](../_glossary.md#term-event-streaming) features or functionality
not yet available in Confluent Cloud for Government. Usually this is a two-step process of deploying a self-managed component,
then connecting that component to Confluent Cloud for Government.

1. Deploy self-managed components
2. Connect self-managed components to GovCloud

## Deploy self-managed components

Confluent for Kubernetes (CFK) is a cloud-native control plane for deploying and managing Confluent products
in a private cloud environment. It provides standard and simple interface to customize, deploy,
and manage [Confluent Platform](../_glossary.md#term-Confluent-Platform) through declarative API. CFK runs on Kubernetes, the
runtime for private cloud architectures. For more information, see
[Confluent for Kubernetes](https://docs.confluent.io/operator/current/overview.html).

Use CFK to deploy Confluent Platform components that you can then connect to Confluent Cloud for Government. For details
and links to examples, see [Hybrid Deployment
of Confluent Platform and Confluent Cloud](https://docs.confluent.io/operator/current/co-hybrid.html#hybrid-deployment-of-cp-and-ccloud).
