# Flink SQL Examples in Confluent Manager for Apache Flink

The following examples are complete, runnable walkthroughs for Flink SQL in
Confluent Manager for Apache Flink® (CMF). Each one starts from an artifact or a `CREATE TABLE` and ends
with real query output, so you can follow along on your own cluster and confirm
the result. They build on the concepts in
[User-Defined Functions](../user-defined-functions.md#cmf-sql-udf) and
[Custom Connectors and Formats](../custom-connectors.md#cmf-sql-custom-connectors).

## Examples

- [Redact a Column with a User-Defined Function](udf.md#cmf-sql-example-udf): register a scalar Java function and call it in a
  query to redact a column.
- [Round-Trip an Apache Iceberg Table](iceberg.md#cmf-sql-example-iceberg): load the Apache Iceberg™ connector as an artifact
and run a full write-then-read round trip against object storage.
- [Read CSV Files from Object Storage](filesystem.md#cmf-sql-example-filesystem): read CSV files from object storage with the
  filesystem connector.
- [Read and Write MongoDB](mongodb.md#cmf-sql-example-mongodb): write to and read from MongoDB with the
  off-the-shelf `flink-sql-connector-mongodb` connector.

## Before you begin

Complete the one-time [environment setup](setup.md#cmf-sql-examples-setup) first. It
installs object storage, enables artifact management and the environment catalog,
and creates an environment named `test` and a compute pool named `pool`. The
examples submit statements with the `confluent` CLI and the CMF REST API
against that environment and pool at `http://cmf:8080`. Substitute your own
environment, pool, and endpoint. Each example lists any extra setup it needs.
