|c3| Security
=============

Configuring security for |c3-short| involves various steps and needs to be done with care.
Because the |c3-short| relies on |kconnect-long|, |ak-tm| brokers, |kstreams|, interceptors and metrics reporters to work, there
are numerous options that could be set depending on a particular environment or need.  

It is recommended you first farmiliarize yourself with :ref:`Kafka Security<security>` and the associated components.

.. note::
    Once a component is secured, will be unable to communicate to other non-secured components. For instance,
    if you have a secured |ak-tm| broker and a secured |c3-short|, but you have not secured Connect,
    the |c3-short| will behave sporadically when you attempt to use/view it.
