USM Agent Release Notes

This page lists each USM Agent release, its release date, and what changed. The USM Agent is a self-managed component that is versioned independently of the Confluent Platform release cycle, so a single agent version can support multiple Confluent Platform versions.

To check version compatibility between the USM Agent and Confluent Platform, see USM Agent Support Policy. For Confluent Platform release information, see Confluent Platform release notes. For USM updates in Confluent Cloud, see the Confluent Cloud release notes.

To view the list of resolved security and vulnerability issues for any release, see Security Advisories and Security Release Notes.

[October 27, 2026] USM Agent 1.3.0

USM Agent 1.3.0 is a minor release.

Compatibility and container images

USM Agent 1.3.0 supports Confluent Platform versions 7.9.6 or later, 8.1.x, 8.2.x, 8.3.x, and 8.4.x. The bundled Confluent Platform version is 8.4.0. For the full compatibility matrix, see USM Agent Support Policy.

The image released in USM Agent 1.3.0 is cp-usm-agent:1.3.0.

New features

  • Adds connector management from Confluent Cloud (Early Access). The Command Handler (usm-agent-command-handler) is an optional component of the USM Agent that lets you manage connectors on self-managed Kafka Connect clusters from the USM control plane in Confluent Cloud. The Command Handler receives connector operations from Confluent Cloud, runs them against the Connect REST API of the clusters you declare, and reports each result back.

The Command Handler is disabled by default. To use it, declare your Connect clusters in your deployment configuration. For setup, see USM Agent Command Handler.

The Command Handler connects to the Connect REST API with no authentication or HTTP Basic authentication. It supports HTTPS with an optional trusted certificate authority (CA) file. Neither mutual TLS (mTLS) authentication nor OAuth is supported.
